Check out magicseaweed.com They will have a list of beaches for New England and other areas. Rhode Island has at least 10, so figure out which ones are closest to you. The site will also tell you the projected wave height for about a week out as well as wind direction and high and low tide. Its a great resource. If you want more detailed info find surf shops near the beaches you can get to and ask if they have a website or a number you can call to get an eyeball report. Other than that just go and make friends and slowly you will learn the ropes. I live in Vermont and surf so you should have no problem.

I guess magicseaweed.com would help you with spots but i would not rely on it for looking a wave heights. It isn’t correct most of the time. A better website would be swellinfo.com

Try Surfline.com There you will find live video of the waves and can get detailed info on where to go. There are many great spots in New England and most Surf Shops will offer lessons. Since you are in Connecticut, yor best bet will be to travel to RI. Newport or Narraggansett have fun waves and plenty of Surf Shops
