Question: Is it possible to catch squid in southern california in the surf or off of a jetty?
I’ve caught them on oceanside pier, but I have heard that you can catch squid off the jetties and beaches too.

The pictures have nothing to do with the content!!

Normally they don’t come in that close, but at times they get washed up on the beach, so it’s not out of the question. I think they would be gathering around a pier (I assume at night) because of the lights on the pier. Without the lights, I think it would be “hit or miss” to get them from shore.
ADDITION: Actually, if you try it during a grunion run, the little fish may lure them near the beach.

www.lasurfing.com I decided to drive up the coast of Palos Verdes and make a few quick stops along the way. Haggertys was my first stop, then i went to the cove and then indictaors. The swell was pumping out of the west. Wish I had my board with me, however sacrificed to get this footage for you all. Enjoy!
