Q&A: Leaving for Kauai in several days and have some questions?
We will be in the princeville area. Are there any waterfalls somewhat nearby that you can swim in? What beach do you suggest for snorkeling? swimming? Where can you take surfing lessons? Any suggestions of sites to see? If you can answer any of these questions, please do! thanks!
oh and is there anywhere to jump off SMALL cliffs into the ocean? that’d be fun

Kauai is small enough you can drive all over the island in a matter of hours. I don’t remember where Princeville is but a GREAT place for snorkling (we went scuba diving) is the Tunnels. Just about any dive shop can get you where you need to go. Also, check out the Canyon hike they have their.

Kauai is a great island. Lots of waterfalls – too many too mention. Make sure you do the Napali coast – great for hiking, sailing and snorkeling.

Here are three great things to do:

* Hike up Waimea Canyon for stunning views of the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific”
* Take a helicopter ride along the 3000-foot cliffs of the Napali coast
* Kayak down the Wailua River. Kauai has the only navigable rivers in Hawaii.

Enjoy.

My sister and her husband went to Kauai for their honeymoon. They did the Zip N’ Dip through Princeville Ranch Adventures. They really enjoyed it. They also took a helicopter tour through Blue Hawaiian helicopters.

Although I’ve never been to Kauai, I researched information and helped them to plan their trip based on my visits to the other Hawaiian islands. Here’s a link to the activity web site I used to book activities for them: http://www.myaffiliateprogram.com/u/hawaiian/t.asp?id=2325.
(I like to book in advance.)

I also like www.tripadvisor.com. You can go to the Kauai forums and read trip reports written by people who have been to Kauai. They’re helpful for deciding what to do.

shot this short video of the waves breaking at Majors Bay, Kauai 5Dec2008. estimated size was about 12-15ft faces, it was too big for me to paddle out, this longboarder had a nice sweet ride, the rights are starting to form out good. looks like the grounds starting to finaly clear up to normal winter season.
