I live there…I love it and wouldn’t move for anything…..but here are a few thoughts. What are you going to do for a job. Most jobs are in town ex: honolulu (which can take 40 mins.) unless you would like to waiter or possible get a job at turtle Bay Resort.
There are all kinds of things to do besides surfing..kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, scuba dive, hike, boogie board..etc..etc..
before you move do some real research …No. shore is the “country” so it is not like Waikiki at night.
Hope this helps.. Aloha

It’s really country up on the north shore. Lots of out of doors things to do, as the other poster indicated. But not much night life. In fact the only movie theater on the north shore (actually, it is more windward side bordering on north shore) in Laie is closing tomorrow.I wouldn’t mind living up there if I had a job in that area. But I would not want to have to commute to Honolulu to work.

there is tons of things to do on the north shore..snorkeling, body boarding, scuba diving, camping at the state park plus so much more..my fav. place to be on Oahu was in the country..its nothing like Waikiki and less tourist..i liked the more local bars and beaches..i def. recommend the north shore to anyone

North Shore, Haleiwa closes up early. Not too much to do on terms of land activities.
there is no movie theatre, no night clubs, no restaurants open at 10pm.

Its more of a DAY place. It is country life there. Meaning its a small town, with only 2 grocery stores, one McDonald’s. (No other fast food place)

More like a surf-hippie town.

Housing is expensive. Honolulu is about an hour drive….only 2 ways to get there, and they are on 2 lane highways….so something happens you are cut off from the rest of the island. Traffic will be backed up for hours.
