first of all, listen to the last two posts, unmoral isn’t even a word, it’s immoral. second of all, of course it is… is that even a question?

Answer by jburford93
Because as you said they are endangered. And every animal is important to the world ecosystem in a way, and whales are a big part of the oceans ecosystem. Kill off the whales and there will be way too many small fish and krill. And that fact that there is no longer an animal at the top of that food chain will cause big problems in the ocean, and believe it or not we rely on the ocean a lot more than you know.

I hope you know no-one is hunting endangered whales, except the inuits. Neither Norway nor Japan hunts endangered whales. To make a species extinct is highly immoral, it’s a sin to God and to our children… But I put in an answer I just wrote to a different question, as this thing seems pretty much the same.

First: The whale is a class of animals, like “the feline” is a class of animals. If you met someone who strongly opposed catching of stray cats in your area, because the Gepard is threatened, what would you feel? Exactly. You would feel they are far out. There are many types of whales, and some – like the blue whale- is seriously threatened. But no-one is catching them. The whalers are after some smaller types, which, like stray cats, not are threatened. The whaling commission was once created by whaling nations to secure sustainability in the whaling. It has later been taken over by people who now wants to save the whale, because they want to. Most of the members are there now due to sponsoring from the Greenpeace, so this is a prime example of corruption.

The exception from this “not threathened thing” is some whales which the inuits are allowed to take. Personally, I think this is a seriously bad idea, but allowing this is the price the whaling nations pay to fend off the total idiots- sorry for saying this, but Greenpeace is only making the world a worse place. The catching of threathened whales should be stopped, no matter how much the ones catching them are indigenous peoples.

There has been a moratorium. This is not binding for the whaling nations, due to formal objections, since the moratorium was not based on advice from the Scientific Committee. The idea with the Whaling Commision was we should kill as many whales as the Scientific Committee said was right. But the fanatics ignore the Scientific Committee. They are not in it for letting the humans exploit the world without destroying it, which is what christian people should do, they are in it from a “not sustainability point of view” – they are just fanatics.

I am surprised when people seem to assume there are so good arguments about why whaling should be banned. Are this arguments the whales are “threatened” ? If so, bogus. Are they “smart”? Pigs are smart, cattle are smart, do you ever hear this argument, are Greenpeace making big demonstrations in your country to save the PIG? Are the argument “painful killing”? Well, it’s a good argument. But the whalers kill as quick as they possible can, which is what we normally ask hunters to do- killing means killing things, you know. And btw, if the data you have was for how long time it took to kill a Big Blue Whale, that should be rather irrelevant. Killing animals is harsh. They say if you enter a slaughter-house, you will exit as a vegetarian..
