Q&A: What is this skin problem I got in Panama?
About 6 months ago I traveled to Panama and I returned with some sort of skin rash. The rash began as small bumps near my ankles, elbows, forearms, and even one on my eyelid. After awhile some of these bumps swelled up and started pussing. I got a blood test that was normal but the doctor said I “probably” had psoriasis. It is hard for me to believe this tho because it started right after my return to the US from Panama and psoriasis is more of a genetic problem. I spent most of my time in Panama surfing both coasts, Can anyone identify this skin problem?

A skin infection survey of 1,084 people was carried out in two jungle villages in eastern Panama. Bacterial pyoderma was the most prevalent infection, affecting 25% of boys, 15% of girls, and 11% of those over 10 years of age. Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus were recovered from 84% of pyodermas cultured. Nearly 60% of the cutaneous staphylococcal isolates were resistant to penicillin. Hippleates flies were seen feeding on purulent skin lesions and may have been important in transmission. Scabies, ringworm, candidiasis, and cutaneous leishmaniasis were rare in comparison with pyoderma, involving less than 1% of the population each. All of the ringworm infections were caused by Trichophyton rubrum. It Could Be Eczema Or Milaria.AY Man I BETTER GET BEST ANSWER HAAHAHAH
