It depends, in my opinion Huntington is a lot more crowded than newport. However they are both great places to surf.

Not even close, Huntington Beach. The waves are always smaller in Newport, plus it’s crowded with only a few good areas to surf. The pier area and Blackies, some of the groins, and the Rivermouth. HB has miles of decent surf from Beach Blvd to Bolsa Chica. The waves along Bolsa Chica are smaller like Newport but I think a little better quality.
