Question: Can you wear clothes over wetsuits?
This may seem like a stupid question, but can you wear clothes like hoodies over wetsuits? Like if it’s a little too cold for just a wetsuit, would it still do its job with more clothes on? This would be for kayaking, by the way.

Yeah, you could wear a clothes over a wetsuit while you are kayaking. If you were gonna get in the water I would lose the clothes. Check out http://www.summitonline.com/ and http://www.wakeboards.us/ you can find some really sweet gear there.

Yes, you can wear other clothes over the wetsuit, but once those other clothes get wet, it defeats the whole purpose. I have two suggestions though:
1. Look into a vest or hooded vest that could work with your westuit. These are the same material as the wetsuit, so if they get wet it is okay.
2. If you are more worried about wind or spray, look into a waterproof jacket or shell. The problem with a hoodie is that it is cotton and will hold the water when it gets wet. With a waterproof jacket or shell over the wetsuit, you are keep the water off you which will keep you warmer. Make sure that it isn’t too big though. If you get dumped in the water, you don’t want to deal with the garment in the water.
3. Ok one more suggestion. Do you need the hoodie or other clothes for the actual kayaking or immediately afterward? Pack the hoodie or jacket in a drybag and put them on once you get out of the water. I have a “swimmers” jacket (long jacket) that I put on after I scuba dive when the air temperature is a bit chilly.
