just make sure that first of all if anything goes wrong that you know how to swim really well, and if it’s your first few times do it with a friend

Take lessons! An instructor will tell you what to wear, and even rent you a wet suit and a board to use during the lessons. Lessons are the best way to start. Lessons can come from a professional instructor, or surfing family members or experienced surfing friends. You have to learn surf etiquette (so the experienced surfers in the line up don’t want to drown you), how to paddle and take off on a wave, and how to ride a wave. The last thing experienced surfers want is for inexperienced people to just grab a board, rush into the surf and get in our way. Lessons shorten the learning curve significantly. And they help keep ignorant, un-prepared kooks out of the water and out of the way of more experienced surfers.

Check ou the links. They will give you a little idea about surfing lessons, and what they entail. I have been surfing for over 43 years, and had a lifetime worth of fun. You will too, if you take the time to learn the right way.Good luck, and have fun!

if its cold, rent a wetsuit, either springsuit or full suit, and it will keep your swimsuit from falling off if you wear one underneath

boardshorts and rashguards will keep from chafing.
I wear my bikini top under my rashguard.
Have someone teach you and have an open mind and be optimistic.

If you’re haven’t been surfing much, then you will probably chafe. If you’re in warm water and don’t need a wetsuit to stay warm, then wear a rash guard or t-shirt in the water. If you do this then it doesn’t matter if you wear a bikini or a one piece.

I recently saw something called Surf Gel, some sort of anti-rash substance. I haven’t tried this but I wish I had thought of it.

If you have money go buy a surfshirt from Island Water Sports, Wings, any surf places uusually have them they aren’t too expensive either.
For the actual bathing suit a one piece is more secure but i never wear one i just wear a bikini and tighten the bottoms =)
And to prepare make sure your board is waxed properly, you have a surf shirt, youprobably should have a leash on your surfboard! Thats really important!!!
Also, before going out into the water you might wanna stretch a little bit just so your body is warm up.
One last thing that would be a plus is learning how to duck dive. If you go on to youtube.com and type in How to Duck Dive there is a excellent video that teaches you and its really easy! Thats pretty much it. Hope that helped =)

bikini… much hotter than one piece. and if its a colder climate wear a wetsuit that fits the water temp. you will chafe somewhere always but you get used to it.
