Q&A: what to wear when surfing?
Hi, I’m going to learn how to surf over the summer and have no idea what I should wear. As a girl, can i get away with just a bikini, or do i need a rash guard? I also heard that I shouldn’t wear bikinis that have ties because they may come off… What do I wear?

It depends on what ocean… Ur probly gonna freeze in a bikini… So I would suggest a wet suit!

Now…I’m sure you’ll get a lot of guys telling you to just wear a bikini, but, ties or not a bikini has a good chance of coming off in the waves. Wear your bikini to the beach but cover up with a rash guard on top & some cute board shorts (with an eyelet tie closure) on the bottom. That way you can still get a good tan while not surfing but concentrate on learning instead of keeping your clothes on while in the water. Good luck & have fun!!!!!

if ur surfing in warm water i would suggest a short sleeve rash guard and board shorts

Well, as a dirty old man, I would naturally recommend as small a bikini as possible. However, in reality, you need a bathing suit that will stay on under some pretty rugged conditions. Lots of the women I see surfing are wearing board shorts and bikini tops. (and I AM a dirty old man and I do notice what they where, even if they do surf better than me).
A rash guard can be a good idea, if nothing else to act as a sunscreen when you will be in the line up for hours. Also, depending on the water temp, you might need a wetsuit, but there aren’t lots of places in the US where I would wear a wetsuit in the summer (water over 16-18 degrees).

well you can either get a rashgaurd and wear the bikini bottoms or wear a rashguard with some boardshorts that you can either get a pacsun or tillys
thiugh i would recommend that you wear a full suit wetsuit
