I’ve been looking all over the web but everyone has a different story. Does anyone know what the official first surfing apparel brand was?

Pretty sure OP (Ocean Pacific) was the first mass commercialized brand. They started in the 60′s and are still around today, although, they kind of lost most of their credibility in the 90′s when they went from being a legitimate surf brand to being sold in any podunk midwest department store. Even though I still think Quiksilver is legit, they better be careful that they aren’t headed down the same path.

Lightning Bolt was one of the major surf apparel brands. Hang Ten is also one of the early pioneers.
